Assante’s may qualify as the quintessential family restaurant: family-owned and operated with a homey ambience and spirit. Two dining rooms have distinctly different characters. One with booths paper placemats and silverware rolled inside napkins is decidedly informal while the second looks like the room Grandma saved for Sunday dinners — white tablecloths and a collection of Italian ceramics on the walls. The food is comfortable too because it’s Italian it’s homemade (for the most part) and it’s good.
